A straight line is a line whose both ends never meet each other on extending.
A curved line is a line whose both ends will meet each other on extending.
Type of straight lines
1. Horizontal lines – A line that runs left to right or right to left in a straight line is called a horizontal line.
2. Vertical Line – A line that runs from top to bottom or bottom to top in a straight line is called a vertical line.
3. Slanting line – Aline which is neither horizontal nor vertical is called a slanting or oblique line.
What is the side?
A side is a straight line that makes part of the shape.
What is a corner?
It is the point where any of the two sides meet.

- It has four sides.
- It has four corners.
- Opposite sides are equal.
Circle
- It has no corner.
- It has no side.
Square
- It has four sides.
- It has four corners.
- All sides are equal.
Triangle
- It has 3 sides.
- It has 3 corners.
Oval
- It has no corner
- It has no side.

A shape with 5 sides is called – Pentagon
A shape with 6 sides is called – Hexagon
A shape with 7 sides is called – Heptagon
A shape with 8 sides is called – Octagon

A shape with 12 sides is called – Dodecagon
